Logistics Account Manager – manages multiple functions within the organization’s logistics department.  Responsibilities include assistance with the transportation of raw materials and/or finished goods, vendor selection and negotiation, distribution of supplies as needed, and inventory control.  Also process improvement, SOP development, and metric reporting.  This role deals with a variety of rail shipping concepts, practices, and procedures for client requirements.  This role relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals in addition to leading and directing the work of others.

The Day-to-Day:
  1. Curate client relations and opportunities in accordance with RSI Client Experience standards.
  2. Contract responsibility – ensure that all client contract services are being followed and assist with the contract renewal process
  3. Client invoicing accuracy – review monthly invoices to ensure proper invoicing of services
  4. Project Management:  Works closely with the project team to maintain a continuous knowledge of project status to identify potential issues and/or opportunities within or related to the project in addition to the successful delivery of solutions
  5. Ensures that all processes and procedures are completed, quality standards are met, and that projects are profitable
  6. Maintains awareness and stays in pursuit of opportunities for account growth and new business
  7. Operate as the lead point of contact for all matters specific to your assigned client
  8. Develop a trusted advisor relationship with key client stakeholders
  9. Provides regular two-way communication between the client and team, to provide strong team representation and set proper client expectations
  10. Forecast and track key client metrics
  11. Take ownership of client issues and follow problems through to resolution
  12. Develop and enhance service procedures, policies, and standards
  13. Mentor and develop Logistics Coordinators in an environment where they can excel through encouragement and empowerment
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, or another related field such as Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent work experience.
  • 6 years of experience in a related field, shipping commodities by rail, or other means
  • Proven track record in project management
  • Proven leadership abilities
What Else? confidence and proficiency in various systems (logistics, rail preferred) with the ability to learn new systems, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills, detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
